Seminar "Cybersecurity. The Role of Government, Industry and Society"

On December 9, 2016 the seminar “Cybersecurity. The Role of Government, Industry and Society” led by Kaja Ciglic, Senior Cybersecurity Strategist Microsoft, will be held in Higher School of Economics, Moscow, Russia.

Ms. Ciglic will share her vision on cybersecurity in the modern world. Kaja will discuss geopolitical perspectives of global cybersecurity, main challenges and practices, proposed by different stakeholders including governmental and industrial initiatives.The speaker will also talk about cybercrime, vulnerability of critical infrastructure and the ways how emerging technologies like IoT, artificial intelligence and cloud computing might embrace cybersecurity.

Following the presentation, Ms. Ciglic will host Q&A session.

“As the pace of activity in cyberspace increases, so does the likelihood of one state misinterpreting the actions of another. Moreover, the risk of a cyber-arms race cannot be discounted. It would be naïve to hope that states should fully pull back their military operations from the Internet. Nevertheless, just as there are universally accepted norms of behavior in other realms of conflict, it is no less important to establish norms for cybersecurity for different stakeholders including government; industry and society”.

About the speaker:

Kaja Ciglic, Senior Cybersecurity Strategist Microsoft

Kaja Ciglic is a proactive professional responsible for strategic changes, both within Microsoft and externally, to advance cybersecurity and resiliency.

Ms. Ciglic leverages her experience to address complex global challenges related to critical infrastructure protection across strategic and operational risk management, information sharing, incident response and software security and integrity. As a part of her activities, Ms. Ciglic also contributes to the development of international cybersecurity norms, cloud security and assurance, cybercrime legislation and strategy. Before joining Microsoft, Ms. Ciglic led the APCO Worldwide’s technology practice in Seattle; directing public affairs and communication work for consultancy’s clients in this space. Previous to that, Ms. Ciglic, worked as a director in APCO Worldwide’s Brussels office, focusing on pan-European campaigns, addressing her clients’ regulatory and antitrust challenges. 

Ms. Ciglic holds a Bachelor of Science in international relations and history, and a Master of Arts in European politics, both from the London School of Economics.
