How Can Big Data Help to Identify Decision-Making Centres and Key Development Trends in Different Countries (China as an Example)?
On the 7th of October 2022, a new series of webinars will be launched by the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) of the Higher School of Economics at the Human Capital Multidisciplinary Research Centre. HSE ISSEK Centre for Strategic Analysis and Big Data fellows Mariia Antasheva, Julia Isaeva, and Polina Lobanova will hold a webinar ‘Research in Areas Related to Human Potential Development in China Based on Big Data Mining’.
Webinar agenda:
Having reached significantly high socio-economic development rates, China is not missing an opportunity to increase its economic power through the demographic ‘trump card’ — that is the country’s high population. Human capital development and various talent support measures have become extremely relevant to Chinese domestic agenda, along with the intensification of government activity in this sphere, including the widest possible usage of digital technologies. The National Development and Reform Commission of the PRC (国家发展改革委) coordinates the development and implementation of relevant government strategies and programs for the medium, long-term, and annual plans for the country’s economic and social development. This macroeconomic management agency makes up one of the most influential decision-making centers in the PRC. Its importance to China’s domestic politics can be seen through a semantic map based on the analysis of Chinese media sources from 2010-2020 using the iFORA big data mining system developed at ISSEK HSE.
Questions that will be covered at the webinar:
- What are the specific features of working with text data in Chinese?
- What trends in human potential development research can be identified based on big data analysis in Chinese?
- What kinds of support measures for human capital implementation do exist in China?
