32% of Russian universities are focused on vocational training for regional and local labour markets

These results come from a survey of the heads of higher education institutions that was conducted in 2013 as part of the Monitoring of education markets and organisations by the HSE (the project is coordinated by HSE ISSEK Centre for Statistics and Monitoring of Education) and the Levada Centre.

The percentage of universities training specialists able to work both in Russia and neighbouring countries rose from 15% in 2008 to 22% in 2013.

In 2008, 44% of universities worked for the regions and cities where they are located.

The results will be published in 2014 in the Information Bulletin ‘Strategies of the Heads of Professional Education Institutions’.
