4.5% of employees in companies in the knowledge industry in 2013 had two degrees, a post graduate degree or an MBA

Experts at the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge made these calculations based on the results of a survey of 600 directors of knowledge industry companies in 2013 conducted by HSE as part of the Monitoring the Knowledge Industry Sector research project in the Fundamental Research programme.

The share of employees with very high educational qualifications has more than halved compared to 2007, when the proportion was 10,2%. This is due to companies, in conditions of a sluggish market recovery and increasing competition, attempting to reduce spending on salaries which is one of the key drains on the knowledge industry sector.
