International roundtable ‘Human Potential: Beyond Ordinary Capabilities’

Event ended

On June 21, 2024, the editorial board of the academic journal Foresight and STI Governance, published by the National Research University Higher School of Economics, will organise an international roundtable ‘Human Potential: Beyond Ordinary Capabilities’.

Discussion agenda:

The world is being swept over by a permacrisis, an ongoing cascade of advanced destructive events affecting virtually every aspect of society. Under these circumstances, managers at all levels face increased pressure as their actions or decisions either enhance or undermine the stability of complex interconnected systems, both globally and locally. Complexity management has become a crucial skill for managers to master. The growing importance of this topic for science is reflected in the increasing number of publications addressing it, using terms such as ‘managing complexity and uncertainty’ and ‘overcoming and accepting complexity’. Participants in this roundtable will discuss various issues related to complexity management theory and practice. For instance, how do we optimise teamwork and human resources through a complex systems lens? How can complexity become a source of new opportunities and resources for growth?
