Figure of the day: 47%
of entrepreneurs working in the service sector noted insufficient demand for their services in the third quarter of 2015. 40% cited this as a problem at the beginning of the year. These data are presented in the new Monitoring the Business Climate in the Service Sector study that was conducted in the third quarter of 2015 by the Centre for Business Tendency Studies at the HSE ISSEK.
Perhaps the most successful activity in the service sector today is the pawnshop business. Demand for the services of pawnshops increased for the fourth consecutive quarter. Their increased popularity is directly associated with the decreased purchasing power of the population.
The most frequent problems arise with auto repair and maintenance, tourism, dentistry, advertising and real estate firms. In these companies, the index of business confidence over the past few quarters has decreased steadily from positive values to accented negative values. In addition, repair services for household goods, personal services, and passenger transport services were among the least well performing.
