Governance in STI Programme Proves to be Right Fit for Delhi Native
‘Almost all the subjects in the present module look exciting to me, but my personal favourite is Strategies in STI Management’, says Shashank, emphasizing the strength of the seminars he has attended at HSE.
While Shashank spent his entire life in Delhi prior to enrolling at HSE, he always had an interest in Russia and Russian culture. ‘During my Bachelor’s, I learned Russian language as a hobby for a few months. After this I fell in love with the language and Russian culture’, he said. It wasn’t long before he began searching for opportunities to study in a programme based in Russia that aligned with his skills and interests.
That said, adjusting to life in Russia has taken some effort. ‘My family was well aware of the fact that I wanted to study in Russia, but they were very curious about the famous Russian winter and how I am going to live in such harsh weather’, he said. ‘Since I am not fluent in Russian, I was helped by my friends in the dorm and university to get used to the Russian way of life. The best advice I can offer is not to panic immediately once you begin your life in Moscow, it will take some time to get adjusted to the “Russian way” of doing things. This has been a great experience for me since moving to a new country and I plan to enjoy it further for two years’.
Apart from spending his time studying, Shashank has been enjoying the beauty of Moscow, especially the metro system, which he says is so vast and historic that one can’t help from appreciating its beauty. ‘I plan to explore Moscow and Russia during my stay here and discover new exciting places’, he said.
