HSE University has become a member of the Moscow Innovation Cluster (MIC) and joined the i.moscow digital platform. The University will be able to collaborate with other participants in the Moscow innovation ecosystem, as well as seek partners for joint research and development testing.

‘HSE University’s decision to join the Cluster is strategic. The Moscow Innovation Cluster is gradually becoming the main platform for cooperation between the capital's businesses, universities, and research organizations. The Cluster’s IT platform, which integrates data on innovative companies, projects, urban infrastructure, and support measures, in addition to providing an online space for collaboration, is especially important right now when we are suddenly restricted in how we can communicate with each other,’ says Leonid Gokhberg, First Vice Rector of HSE and Director of the Institute for Statistical Studies and Knowledge Economy (ISSEK).

HSE and the MIC began collaborating when the Cluster was just being created. Specialists of the Russian Cluster Observatory at HSE were involved in developing in the concept of the platform. They analyzed the experience of innovative megacities of the world, and also developed basic principles for the interaction of potential cluster members.

According to Leonid Gokhberg, HSE will continue to participate in the implementation of the cluster concept and offer effective mechanisms for using scientific research to create new products that are in demand in Russia and abroad.

Every year, HSE University ranks among the leaders of world educational ratings. It will be useful for us to continue working with colleagues to study advanced solutions in innovation development in the world, as well as using these ideas for cluster development. HSE, as a cluster member, in turn, will be able to access support measures for participants in the innovation infrastructure provided by the City of Moscow, the federal authorities, and development institutions, as well as take other opportunities to implement research projects and promote their scientific development.

The Moscow Innovation Cluster is a platform for introducing innovations and facilitating collaboration between large corporations, industries, small and medium-sized businesses, development institutions, educational entities, and research organizations.

The MIC has 924 member organizations. Member organizations include the Skolkovo Foundation, the Kurchatov Institute, Russian Space Systems, JSC United Engine Corporation, the Moscow-based Strogino and Slava technology parks, and Moscow State University.
