Statistical review of the development of education in the Russian Federation: for the years of 2000-2010

Nowadays when the designing of State Education Development Program on forthcoming period of time is being finished it is important to understand clearly what a start position of the domestic system of education is. In this article its main quantitative characteristics based on the federal statistical observation data are presented. For example there are the indicators of contingent of institutions at different educational levels and respective age cohorts, educational attainment, public sector commercialization and private sector development, public expenditures on education, etc. Estimates of student flows in Russian system of education and corresponding flow charts performed with a special methodology on the basis of statistical data are of a real interest.
