Futures Literacy of Students

HSE ISSEK joined the ‘FORESIGHT — Future Oriented Education for Students Incorporating GSC* in High-paced Times’ project launched by five European universities. The three-year project funded by European Union started with the kickoff meeting held on November, 29–30 in Tilburg (the Netherlands). HSE ISSEK was represented by a post-doctoral research fellow Dr. Oguz Demir, who will be the overall coordinator of the project.

The FORESIGHT project will be implemented in 2018—2021 by Istanbul Commerce University (Turkey), Fontys University of Applied Sciences (the Netherlands), Karel de Grote College (Belgium), University El Pais Vasco (Spain) and Metropolitan University of Budapest (Hungary). HSE ISSEK entered into this collaboration as an associate partner.

This initiative funded by European Commission (in the framework of Erasmus+ programme) is aimed to develop teaching modules that enable students to look at the future (apply foresight) and to develop innovations based on those future scenarios that are not only commercially beneficial, but also socially oriented and sustainable. In addition, the project partners want to develop an instrument to monitor the ‘future consciousness’ or ‘future orientation’ of the students during the period that they follow the courses developed.

The teaching modules will be open to all interested universities via online. Also, this modules will be used within the scope of HSE ISSEK Master’s Programme 'Governance of Science, Technology and Innovation'.
