First Enrollment in 2014: Talented and Highly Motivated Students

Starting from this year, 30 Russian and foreign students are learning the fundamentals of governance in the sphere of science, technology and innovation on a new Master’s programme “Governance of Science, Technology and Innovation” organised by the HSE ISSEK. The admission selection was pretty tough with more than three candidates per a state-funded place. Almost all candidates presented high-quality portfolios and showed themselves in the best possible light in the interview which was held in English. The examination committee faced a really hard choice.

These statistics were obtained during a survey of Russian families with school age children that was conducted in the fall of 2013 as part of the Monitoring of Education Markets and Organisations (MEMO), a study conducted jointly by the HSE and the Public Opinion Foundation.

This information came from a survey of 3,054 continuing education students from 57 of Russia’s territorial entities that was conducted in 2013 as part of the HSE’s Monitoring of Education Markets and Organisations (MEMO)”, which is coordinated by ISSEK Centre for Statistics and Monitoring of Education.

"Rising Powers" official blog about fieldwork in Moscow

The project on Emerging Technologies and Implications of Next Generation Innovation System Development (“Rising Powers”), which involves HSE ISSEK, has launched its official blog. One of its recent posts is on the fieldwork conducted jointly by a team of researchers from the University of Manchester and Higher School of Economics in Moscow.

The share of people holding this view is higher (14%) among families with children who are already prospective students. These statistics were obtained during a survey of Russian families with children ranging in age from 4 to 22 years, that was conducted in the fall of 2013 as part of the Monitoring of Education Markets and Organisations (MEMO) carried out jointly by HSE and the Public Opinion Foundation.

of Russian families are willing to devote up to 10% of their monthly budget to ensure their children have a quality education. These data were collected during a survey of Russian families with children 4 to 22 years of age, which was conducted in the autumn of 2013 as part of the Monitoring of Education Markets and Organisations by the Higher School of Economics in collaboration with the Public Opinion Foundation. The project is coordinated by HSE ISSEK Centre for Statistics and Monitoring of Education.

HSE and Seoul National University have agreed to exchange students

Higher School of Economics and Seoul National University College of Engineering, Republic of Korea (SNU) have concluded a student exchange partnership for students of the Master’s programmes “Governance of Science, Technology and Innovation” (HSE) and “Technology Management, Economics and Policy Programme” (SNU).

Urban Foresight

HSE strengthens its partnership with Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) in the framework of International Foresight Academy. Researchers of HSE Institute of Regional Studies and Urban Planning Evgenij Pliseckij and Galina Kopychenko studied the experience of AIT in the field of regional and urban Foresight and presented the outcomes of the Institute’s work in the area of urban development planning.

was the average capacity utilization level at Russian manufacturing companies in July. It is the lowest number seen in three years, stated experts from the HSE’s Centre for Business Tendency Studies, which operates under the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK).

49th is Russia’s ranking in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2014

The GII is published annually by Cornell University, the French business school INSEAD and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). It includes a ranking accompanied by a report analysing the level of innovative development in different countries around the world. This year two HSE researchers were co-authors of the report — Leonid Gokhberg, First Vice Rector and Director of HSE ISSEK, and Valentina Polyakova, Research Fellow at HSE ISSEK.
