"Green" pathway for the EU. The workshop by Dimitrios Mavrakis

On November 6, 2012 a public workshop, dedicated to "green" energy, by Professor Dimitrios Mavrakis was held at the Higher School of Economics. According to the expert, "green" energy development is able to defeat the growing global threat of energy shortages and decreasing living standards caused by the deteriorating environment.

At Foresight frequency: broadcasting signals from the future

International scientific conference Foresight: Innovative Answers to Global Challenges, organised jointly with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), was held at the Higher School of Economic on 18-19 October, 2012. For Russian long-term futures research experts, it was a major venue for discussing promising areas of future-oriented studies.

The second meeting of International Advisory Board of the HSE ISSEK’s Foresight Centre

A meeting of International Advisory Board of the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK’s) Foresight Centre was held at the Higher School of Economics on 17 October, 2012. The Board members — representatives of the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry, the Manchester University and other prominent international organisations active in futures research — suggested a wide range of recommendations to facilitate further development of the ISSEK’s Foresight Centre.

The Case of Scientific Capital» by Natalya Shmatko, head of the department for Human Capital Research, HSE ISSEK, and Yurij Katchanov, chief research fellow of the Sociological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is published in a new issue of the journal «Applied Mathematical Sciences»(vol. 6, 2012, no. 133).

Regional innovation development rating

Rating of innovation development of the Russian Federation regions complements collected statistical information about the parameters of educational, research and innovation activities in Russia to the direction of detailed consideration of regional differences in distribution of innovation activity.
