Synchronising Russian and Chinese Foresight Studies

Alexander Sokolov, Director of the Foresight Centre and Deputy Director of the HSE ISSEK, visited Shanghai (PRC) in early May to take part in the International Pujiang Innovation Forum. The forum is annually hosted by the PRC Ministry of Science and Technology jointly with the Shanghai Municipal Government to discuss and coordinate decisions in the science, technology, and innovation policy area. This year the participants shared their expectations about the period until 2035.

Internal Expenditures on Digital Economy Development

The HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge presents results of the pilot calculation of internal expenditures on digital economy development, based on data collected in the course of federal statistical observations and by the Bank of Russia. According to the HSE ISSEK estimates, in 2017 internal expenditures on digital economy development amounted to approximately 3.3 trillion roubles, or 3.6% of GDP.

In 2020 Russia Will for the First Time Host TCI Global Conference

Kazan won the right to host the 23rd annual TCI Global Conference in October, 2020. The Higher School of Economics took part in preparing the application to organise one of the largest international cluster policy events. The TCI Global Conference-2020 motto will be 'Partnership for cluster development: building the future'.

Results of the Symposium 'Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy'

On 10–12 April, 2019 in the scope of the XX April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development at HSE, the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge hosted the symposium 'Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy', and a number of other events. Members of the institute delivered several plenary reports on transformation of the economy and public administration due to digitisation, S&T cooperation in the EAEU, challenges for the regulation sphere in a situation of radical technological changes, and various other topics.This page presents the main results of the symposium: full texts of plenary reports, videos and reviews of key discussions, materials on specific presentations, and photos of participants.

Supercomputer Set Up at HSE University

A new supercomputer, which has been recently set up at MIEM, will allow the university to carry out high quality research in deep learning and mathematical modeling. The computer was ranked sixth in the April Top-50 ranking of supercomputers in Russia.

The Moscow Innovation Cluster is Shaping its Future Image

The Moscow Innovation Cluster Fund, in effect the cluster’s organisational core, will be established in a matter of weeks. This was reported by Kristina Volkonitskaya, Deputy Director of the Moscow City Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development, at the expert panel 'Moscow Innovation Cluster: Prospective S&T Development Areas' which took place on 24 April at the Higher School of Economics. The participants discussed the support the Fund should be providing, and joint pilot projects in areas such as ICT, medicine, biotechnology, advanced production technologies, and new materials.

New IP Protection Trends

The II International Strategic Forum on Intellectual Property IPQuorum was held in mid-April in Kaliningrad. Its motto was 'IP code: all aspects of intellectual property for man and economy'.
