The second meeting of International Advisory Board of the HSE ISSEK’s Foresight Centre
A meeting of International Advisory Board of the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK’s) Foresight Centre was held at the Higher School of Economics on 17 October, 2012. The Board members — representatives of the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry, the Manchester University and other prominent international organisations active in futures research — suggested a wide range of recommendations to facilitate further development of the ISSEK’s Foresight Centre.
ERC Grants: Options and Opportunities
On September 18th 2012, a delegation from the European Research Council (ERC) visited the Higher School of Economics. ERC representatives spoke about how Russian researchers can access the grant programme of the Council.
S&T co-operation between the EU-Russia: status and prospects
On June 28-29, 2012 a meeting devoted to conditions and implementation prospects of the Seventh EU Framework Programme’s project ERA.Net RUS took place in the Austrian Ministry of Science and Research. A wide range of issues was discussed at the meeting, including results of the pilot joint competitions for Science and Innovation, protection of intellectual property created within the framework of joint projects, measures to increase effectiveness of scientific co-operation, etc.. Representatives of the EU evaluated effectiveness of the pilot competitions and came out with recommendations for improving the competitive procedures.
Foresight: Exploring the Future, Shaping the Present
25-29 June 2012 a short course “Foresight: Exploring the Future, Shaping the Present” took place at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR, University of Manchester, Manchester, Great Britain). The agenda of this training was devoted to exploring frameworks and methodology of Foresight.

Workshop “Linkages between Actors in the Innovation System”
An international workshop «Linkages between Actors in the Innovation System» took place on the 13-15th of June 2012. Eminent researchers and leading experts in innovation studies from the UK, Norway and Sweden joined their colleagues from the HSE to discuss the recent developments in the field of science, technology and innovation.

On April 26, 2012 the Higher School of Economics (HSE) hosted an international workshop titled "Exchange of experience and fostering networking with information service providers in the sphere of science, technology and innovation". Participants discussed the methods and tools of information and dissemination support for S&T activities, as well as existing and potential areas of cooperation btween Russia and the European Union.

On April 6, 2012 Dr. Rafael Popper delivered the seminar "iKNOW community: new methods in Foresight and Innovation Management". The event was organized by the HSE Research Laboratory for Science and Technology Studies.The seminar was devoted to communication platform iKNOW operating in the field of Foresight, innovation and horizons scanning.

On April 4, 2012 the Research Laboratory of Science and Technology Studies, HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK), organized the workshop "Science and Technology Foresight: Methods and Practice". Issues of the future development of science and technology, prospects of emerging and general purpose technologies, and evaluation of effectiveness of Foresight studies were considered at the workshop.
