The HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge conducted a study of best management practices in the science and technology area. The results, and a proposal to set up an online platform for monitoring such practices, were presented at a round table discussion hosted by HSE.

The students of HSE perfect it, studying theory, examining tools and cases. But it is known that knowledge and skills are much better learnt when resonating with the realities of life or with a relevant information agenda. The RF Government approved “Development Strategy for Rehabilitation Products Industry Until 2025” (Regulation N2599-r of 22 November, 2017), and a set of measures to promote development of advanced rehabilitation products industry in 2017-2019. Both documents were drafted with active participation of HSE ISSEK experts.

A number of events happened in late October — early November, important to HSE ISSEK members who combine their work with postgraduate studies (or did, or are about to begin).
Software development is the current priority for Russian IT companies. If in 2010 only 36% of market players were engaged in this area, in 2017 their share grew to 61% — as was discovered by the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge Centre for Business Tendencies Studies (CBTS) through a survey of more than 600 companies active in the IT industry.
The Seventh International Academic Conference 'Foresight and STI Policy', traditionally organized by HSE ISSEK, took place in Moscow at the beginning of November. Mr Kato, the Director General of the National Institute of Science and Technology of Japan, was the key speaker at the event. He has talked to HSE News Service about his research interests, as well as about cooperation with HSE in the field of foresight research.

This October World Festival of Youth and Students took place in Sochi bringing together over 20 000 young people from 150 countries. Several HSE international students participated in the event, among them — Nawaid Alam, graduate of Governance of Science, Technology and Innovation programme and HSE doctoral student.
