Social Demand for New Technologies
Russians turn out to be rather conservative in their perception of new technologies, innovative products and services, and willingness to use. That was discovered in the course of a survey conducted by the ISSEK experts in the scope of the Monitoring Innovative Behaviour of the Population study (2015-2016). Who Studies Russian Science and How?
On February 8, Russian Science Day, the Higher School of Economics, along with the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) and the Ministry of Education and Science, released its annual statistical data book on the state of science, technology, and innovation. HSE completed S&T Foresight Study for the Agricultural Sector 2030
The RF Ministry of Agriculture approved the findings of the S&T Foresight Study for the Agricultural Sector 2030 conducted jointly with HSE. Preliminary results were reviewed at a meeting of the Government Commission on the Agricultural Sector and Sustainable Development of Rural Areas chaired by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on 13 December, 2016. Leonid Gokhberg, HSE First Vice Rector and ISSEK Director, comments on how realistic the scenarios included in the study are, what Russia should be preparing to, and how HSE is helping to advance the Russian agriculture.
The Statistical Monitoring of the Development of the Russian Segment of the Internet Concept
In order to measure the extent of Internet spread in the Russian Federation, experts of HSE ISSEK Centre for Statistics and Monitoring of Information Society developed a concept for statistical monitoring on request of the ANO “The Coordination Center for TLD RU”. The paper presents conceptual, methodological, and organisational frameworks for the study.
Cooperation Strategies of Enterprises: the Duration of Collaboration

Science Management Practices as a Study Object
On 8 December ISSEK hosted a discussion of best R&D and/or S&T management practices applied by academic organisations. Leading science, technology and education experts discussed conceptual models of R&D management, analysed various aspects of measuring academic organisations’ performance, and debated whether it would be at all possible to develop any universal success recipes.

On 9 December, 2016 HSE ISSEK in partnership with Microsoft organised seminar “Cybersecurity. The role of government; business and society”. Kaja Ciglic, Sr. Cybersecurity Strategist, Microsoft, discussed geopolitical trends of global cybersecurity and various initiatives in this space proposed by different stakeholders with the students and faculty.
HSE Hosted a Round Table Discussion of the Role of Financial Technologies in Development of the Financial Sector
On 13 December, the Higher School of Economics jointly with the Bank of Russia hosted a round table discussion “Financial technologies and the future of the banking sector”. Vadim Kalukhov, director of the RF Central Bank’s Financial Technologies, Projects, and Process Organisation Department, made a presentation on major relevant trends and the Bank of Russia’s key projects.
Strategic Development of the Rehabilitation Industry
The Higher School of Economics designed the Development Strategy for the Rehabilitation Industry 2030, commissioned by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The strategy was presented by Leonid Gokhberg, HSE First Vice Rector and ISSEK Director, at the 1st National Rehabilitation Industry and Universal Design Forum “Relying on Technology” held on 1 December at Skolkovo.
